CA what is the pressure sensor and can it be removed?

i have all cats removed etc. if that matters. what is the pressure sensor and can it be removed?... i'm asking because the vacuum line that goes from the pressure sensor to the intake manifold Gs cracked a little. and i think it's making my idle fluxuate a little.

Do not remove it. It's used by the factory ECU to measure vacuum and pressure which is one of the two critical factors in determining load. Just replace the vacuum line.

Um, even if the pressure sensor did nothing you would still have a vacuum leak.

When you replace the vac line to the pressure sensor- and I don't know why you wouldn't- be aware that there is a restrictor pill inside the line and without it, the readings will be way off and your idle will still be crap.
Why they didn't incorporate this into the sensor itself is beyond me.

Doesn't matter, it's not a check valve.

Maybe that would explain my idle. It is really low. I just did a turbo swap and replaced the hose on there. Can anyone give me a picture of where this restrictor is and what it looks like? Thanks.

It is an ORIFICE and it's part number can be found in the PART FISCHE which can be downloaded on this site.

The ORIFICE is located on the engine side of the hose.....inside the hose about a inch give or take. The PARTS FISCHE shows the location of the ORIFICE.

It can't cause a low or high idle and effects the idle not.

Low idles can be caused by blocking off the oil injectors as an example. Low idles can be low because of irregulay timing. Low idles can be caused by not following the FSM procedures for setting and idle. Low idles can be caused by removal of the BAC. Low idles can be cause by a myrid of things.

Or do a SEARCH on this site using NZCONVETIBLE and ORIFICE as the key words, and he'll tell you how to MAKE one for pennies.
