what paint to use for header

well my header is looking pretty beat up and rusted. i was gonna clean it up and paint it a ceramic color but what paint should i use so that it doesnt bake off. my dad used dupli-color good for 500* and it baked right off on first start up. so is there anything out there that can withstand more heat?

thanks,
josh

i used 1200 degree paint and it burned up. you will have to find some that will hold over like 1600 degress or something

Just heat wrap it. It'll look decent and lower engine bay temps at the same time.

get it sand blasted before you do any kind of painting. getting it ceramic coated will give you your silver color. it cost money, but is the BEST way to do it.......

How much do you expect powder coating to be?

Just curious because I was planning on doing that to an FD setup.

getting block hugger headers for a v8 was quoted at 150-200. so for a rotary should be around 100 i would GUESS. well worth it. if you have ever had anything PC'd, its the way to go IMO

lol, dont bother, it literallt evaporates off. i painted mine with 1400 degree and it was gone after 5 mins or so of idle. it was 3 coats of paint, but you can watch it evaporate off if you want too. lol
