hey, great question. I was just thinking that myself. If ya'll don't mind I was wondering why 20w50 would be the best. I think I'll go out and buy some this weekend :-) thanks again.

Does it matter what brand of oil you use? I notice alot of people using Castrol... I use Pennziol in all my other vehicles, its just easier buying one kind...

Well, I was using Castrol on my other cars, before I went rotary, and I swear by the stuff. Not just for Rotaries.

ha, funny. I have not used Castrol before I got my 7. Now I do, funny that it was a good choice though, although it's a little colder here in Wisconsin, I use 10W-30. Why do you use 20W-50?...later

Same here. I actually learned about it from my friend who put it in his 351 Windsor, which showed only a fraction of the deposits when compared to the more "manly" (at the time) Valvoline that he had previously used.

The RX-7 manual lists the proper weight for a given outside air temperature range. Those in warm climates will prefer the 20W50.

When starting, if the temp outside on average is:

-10F to 85F use Castrol 10W30

20F to 140F use Castrol 20W50

bcool, you blocked off your OMP and still use normal oil? You do realize you need to add premix right? BTW, Premix is the way to go (IMOP), my car runs better with it.

Oh yes i do relize that i need to premix, in hint "premix". I use Chevron cause i was told that it happened to have the lowest ash content. I was curious if the engine likes it to take less weight of oil when it doesnt have to feed then engine anymore?
