What do you think of these plans?
What do you guys think, I have a Red 88 GXL. I've already started buying parts for the turbo conversion. I'm in the process of buying the t2 engine harness, ecu, afm, boost sensor, and the resistor selenoid from a guy on the forum. My plans are to have everything but the motor and buy it from an local importer when i get my taxes back($800). A few things i'm going to aquire before the motor will include a FCD. Hks type 1 turbo timer, turbo xs manual boost controler(possibly dual), super AFC, Walbro fuel pump, turbo xs type H bov, and either a corksport 3"DP or the Thunder fabrications 3" DP. A friend said he'd give me his stock tid, so i think with everything i mentioned minus the throttle cable i'm set. Anything i missed or am planning that would not be advised? Any input would be great!
Oh yea i already have a turbonetics boost gauge a friend gave me as well as his autometer a/f gauge(i know its a light show but its free).

If you have $100-$200 to spend you might as well put in a decent FMIC like a starion unit or something. It's all you would ever need with the stock turbocharger.
Oh, and with an exhaust/intake you will need to upgrade your fuel system. Walbro pump and larger (like 720cc) secondary injectors should do the trick for you setup nicely.

Well with a stock turbo and most other parts stock, there is no need to buy a big fancy GReddy/Apex'i/etc unit. Just buy a starion/conquest intercooler (just an example, or something similar) for about $40-$100 and some piping ($30-$50) and you have yourself a FMIC which is MORE THAN ADEQUATE for the current engine setup.

Also, what kind of numbers should i be expecting, obvioulsy this would require tuning and such, but anyone want to give me an estimate? lets assume i go with a starion ic. I like that idea much better than that of buying a used tII hood and attempting to have it shipped.

If I were you I would put it together all stock FIRST. get all the little bugs worked out, trust me their will be a few. Then after you get it running sound you can go ahead and add all the mods you want. if you put all your mods on when assemblying it first then you have that many more problems it could be. example fuel, electronics, vaccum leaks etc. just my .02 cents.

I found a starion ic so that shouldnt be a problem, and yes i've considered buying a TII but its not happening, so this is what i have to work with. As far as vacuum leaks go i'm removing everything thats not necessary(emmissions) . From what i've seen its something like 5 total vacuum lines. Most likely everything will go on stock minus the DP and fuel pump and gauges. Well i'll have the gauges in a week or so so that will actually go in first. But i'll have the rest of the stuff ready to go in.
