Let me preface with I painted the car & did all the work myself but certainly lack the experience you have. To each thier own and I relied 100% on advice given to me by a retired body-guy who now manages an auto-parts/auto-paint store.

Actually the very first time I was getting gas - as I was pumping some ricer came up, stuck his face in the sunroof (which pissed me off) than asked "So man - is this a Honduh or what?"
I stopped pumping the gas, turned to him and said "first, step away from the not even cured paint, second - NO IT IS NOT A ******* HONDUHrun away before I soak you in gas."
He looked at me a little silly until I motioned to grab the pump.... ******* ricers.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

GASOLINE FIGHT!

Looks nice without badges. My wife doesn't like S4s but says yours is the best S4 she's ever seen ( and I've been showing her clean S4's for years now).

Sweet!! I kinda miss having a radio when I get into newer cars with bumpin' stock systems but then I remember the sound of JUST the rotary with the 3" RB turbo back and I forget I need music.

On the NA I'll most likely replace the speakers and have new one mounted in the stock positions. Nice write up BTW. I'm going to PM you for some tips on FG work.

So did you use the nite shade on only the lenses? Or did you paint the whole assembly in that?

Or did you just paint the assembly and thats why it looks so nice?

How long ago did you do this, and is the U-Pol holding up well? A lot of people say that you should stay within the paint lines because they compliment each other, but personally, I can't see where it would make a lot of difference as long as you don't mix chemicals in a BATCH like, using HOK Reducer IN your PPG Omni paint, or someone else's hardener in your PPG clear. I know I've shot Omni clear over PPG paint and it turned out nice... actually hell, one of the nicest fixes I did was shooting Omni over a Duplicolor rattlecan paint job. Unfortunately it was waaaaay nicer than the rest of the car was. A 1988 Buick Regal with one incredibly shiny fender.

I painted only the lenses in the night shades. The rest of the tails I painted the same as the rims, molding, hatch trim, window trim, mirrors & windshield trim - dark dark charcoal mettalic with the same U-Pol clear. Go ahead, wax the plastic

2 years ago at this point I re-sprayed the whole car. I heard, read, studied that too that you shouldn't mix paint (Omni is produced by PPG though) so I was a little surprised when Bob reccomended I put the U-Pol over the PPG Global BC but assured me it would be fine and thus far it has been. I really like that clear. Granted it is the only clear that I've ever sprayed, but it is certainly NOT to only one that I have color-sanded, compounded or waxed. I feel that it is incredibly durable. The REAL test will be next summer - over the winter my buddy wants me to paint his 3' RC sailboat with the stuff. His hobby shop stuff got chipped and the salt water just started peeling it off. There's alot of bumping/ramming in that sport and he seems to think (I agree) that the U-Pol will be much more durable.

I may have to look at that - the Omni clear did give a bit of a bronze cast to my charcoal metallic, but I actually like it. Obviously though it wouldn't work as well if you were painting a white, for example. :P
