What was the base model in 89?

Sure I'll get flamed for posting this...just trying to make sure I know what I got. I have a black on black 1989 NA without any badges...however I found a place that looks like it may have had a badge but I don't know...

All I know is it's got 5 lugs, AC, and powersteering. That's it...

In the states, it was the GTU.

They upgraded the 87.5-88 SE by adding 5 lug wheels, and renamed it the GTU.

I just checked out your sticky, mark, and a lot of the features the 1989 chart has for the GTU this car doesn't...but I guess it would have to be a GTU beings the other catagories certainly do not apply...

Maybe you have a S4 crossbreed that someone made by dropping in parts from a S5

There was also the GTUs in 89. The only options it had were air conditioning and a AM/FM.

But you would have 4 piston front brakes and vented rear brakes then

I never paid much attention to the brake calipers...car hasn't ran since I got it...but that's something I'll be checking tomorrow. If someone went the crossbreed route they went through a lot of trouble...

wow...if it does turn out to be a GTUs it gives me a great reason to go ahead and buy a rebuild with an aggressive streetport...
