Arrow Went To The Track and Found a Problem...

Well me and a few friends went to the 1/8 mile today and my car wouldnt run right on the track. I usually launch around 4500 but if i launched over 3000 my car would sputter and hesitate all the way down the track. i left for a minute to see if it would do it on the street but it wouldnt if i was just driving then got on it, but when i launched it above 3000 from a stop it would do this. After I realized that it only did this when i launched it hard, i eased off the line and then stomped it, synchros are almost out so i had to shift into 2nd at 6000 when i usually shift at 7600, and either had to stay in 2nd or slam it into 3rd. my best time was 10.0 at 73 MPH. Does anyone know why it wont run right if i launch it hard?....

Sounds like TPS to me. Adjust it to 1 volt on a warm engine.
Ever try that pennzoil syncromesh in the tranny?

Got a tired tranny trying to limp the car around until you can get a proper replacement and you're doing 4krpm launches and redline shifts at the racetrack?

I guess...

what is a proper replacement for my transmission kevin?
A low mileage clean used one, a rebuilt one, or a turbo II drivetrain swap. IF you keep dropping in 150k+ mile used ones that are already on their last legs, you know you'll go right out and kill it when you're driving the car hard. Common sense.

The local guy I asked said $1300. In other words... get a TII drivetrain.

we read the TPS and it read 1.384 volts we turned it down to as close to 1.000 volts as we could get. it seems a little smoother but i havent tried any crazy launches, for anyone that knows a lot about our TPS's how far off exactly was it?...
