well it started...

well it ran for about 10-15 seconds and the oil pressure gauge never showed anything so i cut the car off... we check the oil filter and there was some oil there but not like poring out so we tried starting with the oil filter off. i didn't see any oil coming out the top. i parked the car on a hill front end facing down.. a few people tolled me this would help when trying to prime the system and i still didn't get anything. im 100% sure the gauge is hooked up right. after i killed the car we tried again and it fired up a second time again no oil pressure building. so WTF ???? idle was set at 1500 like everyone says to do i will admit i was pretty damn happy at the fact that the car started. so when the car starts should oil pressure be seen immediately or will it take a few seconds to push threw ?

Make sure you have your oil pressure sender plugged in.. Thats a very common "No Oil Pressure" issue..

I'm guessing this is a new build. Check out this thread for how to prime the pump.

pretty much we did as followed in the instructions, then i called around and asked a few people and asked a few people on here if since it was a dry oil pump would it hurt to start the car and let the vacuum from the engine pull the oil up (the engine is well lubricated). one local mechanic has rebuilt several rotory's and he said he hadn't encountered this problem b4 but if the engine was lub then starting it would prime the pump and i should be fine. my problem is i don't know how long it should take for pump to prime, i did have some oil in the filter but it wasn't large amounts and when we tried with the oil filter off i didnt have any oil coming out. im going to try and go back over 2morrow and see what he deal is... i just dont want to break a seal or blow my engine up.

ok so today we are trying to get the car running and it seems to die after the starting fluid burns off. when i start the car i have to push in the clutch and the gas pedal so it can breath and then after a few seconds it stops running. i have fuel in the rail and in the engine cause it does get flooded from time to time, but wont stay running. it just wont stay running, is because of such a fresh rebuild and cold starting ?
