Weird starting problem (SEARCHED)

whenever I go to turn the key the car usually just makes a clicking sound. Just one click, its like the started wants to turn but it can't. If I try a few more times it will keep clicking once every time I turn the key. Then randomly it will just start. Once it starts to crank its fine, but I have no idea what this up with this click.

The starter has been replaced with no change in the problem, also, the car had this problem before i rebuilt the motor, and it didnt go away after I put it back together. I have also replaced the flywheel.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the clutch switch? I took a look at it and it still has that little plastic stopper thing for it to press against. can the switch itself be bad?

any help is greatly appreciated, because i'm sick of hearing my car click at me for like 5 mins before it will start.

On way to find out is to jump the clutch switch... bypass it. If it starts every time.. that's it. if not, it could be a relay somewhere that's starting to fail.

I'm pretty sure the connector has two wires on it... Unplug the switch and put a wire between the two terminals on the plug. That should simulate the clutch being pressed. I would double check if the switch is normally open or normally closed.. but I'm pretty sure its normally open (clutch out).. I did this for a friends remote start (before I realized our manual trannies had a NSS).

I think it's more likely to be the contacts on the main ignition switch than the clutch switch.
If it were the clutch switch you wouldn't get any clicks at all...

Find out if its bad first. I've never had one go out.. but they SHOULD be easy enough to get from the for-sale section.

the main ignition switch as in the where the key goes? I'm kind of a noob when it comes to electronics. I also agree that its probably not the switch since I've never heard of one breaking either
