Weird smell after new exhaust.

Hey all,
I just got my car back tonight after having a dynomax catback installed. I started it up and after about 5 or so minutes i started to smell a weird "burning metal with a hint of banana-ish" smell. Anyone know wat i'm talking about?
Anyway, is this just the new metal from the exhaust or is my cat clogged? I revved it up and noticed that the rpms took longer to rise and fall, but the cat wasn't glowing red hot after i shut it down, and the pressure from the tail pipes were pretty damn strong.

I've never gotten a "new" exhaust before...so this is all news to me.

Thanks!

I doubt it has to do with the newness of the exhaust, as my '90 GXL (All stock with ~36k on rebuild) has produced this smell once or twice. Very banana-ish.

I don't think I would call it banana-ish...

but when you get a new exhaust, it is normal to have a funny smell, kinda like melting plastic. That would be the new gaskets melting into place. It will go away after a little bit...

I've noticed more of a sulphur smell after all my new exhausts.

I work in an exhaust shop and more than likely the pipe that was used is an aluminized pipe. It has a sort of oily coating on it which will burn off rather quickly. Smells bad but normal.
