weird acceleration

this only happened twice. i would floor it in any gear, and i would jet off as usual but you could feel the acceleration bumping a little bit. kind of like chugging or bogging, but not bad at all, barely noticeable. it wouldn't even happen every time i floored it. the car is a 87 t2, it has catback and a 2" midpipe that i just made and put on the night this happened. anybody know whats going on?

well at what rpm is this happening? Is it around 3800rpm??

You need to give more specifics when describing symptoms of you expect someone to be able to give you any legitimate advice.

I get the same thing happening to me. it's like I'm not getting enough fuel (though I can smell it half the time). I can pop it into neutral and slam on the gas and it just chugs. After a while it might go away, and it never does it if I drive it after letting it sit around a while, only when it warms up.

It's driving me nuts though. I have to have the gas pedel pressed in just enough to accelarate.

Mine's an 86 gxl. This may not be what his issue is, but it sounds like it, just not as bad.

can anybody help?

Start going thru your grounds, hesistation is caused by ground 99.9% of the time. Try following RotaryRessurection's grounding guide...see if that fixes it.

Start with basics...check your fuel filter, plugs, and wires.

I'm going to do a tune up on it this weekend and find out where the fuel filter is. If it's an in tank filter then I'll have some issues. It was real bad today though. Had to turn the hazards on and chug to work. I checked the wires during lunch to make sure they where seated and I think that helped a bit, it didn't chug all the way home, but I could tell it wasn't running up to par. Maybe the plugs couppled with the fuel filter....

The filter is on the driver's side, mounted to the body, and little under the brake booster.
