Weight Saving Tips
Weight Saving Tips
I found a great way to save some weight by removing some unnessesary things. Here are the pictures that I took to help explain.
First of all, peel back the passenger side carpet and take off the kick panel for your ECU.
Remove insulation that has been piled up into a nest.
Remove any mice and or other once living creatures.
Inspect insulation nest for other once living creatures.

I'm pretty sure they were dead when I bought the car in April, cause I also found the mouse treasury of stockpiled acorns under where my storage bins would be if i had storage bins.
I'm guessing at one point during my car's lifetime it sat for a long time, cause my mechanical lever in the rear calipers are basically frozen shut with rust and/or inactivity. By the way, does anyone have any rear brake calipers for an '86 n/a for sale?

Once upon a time, my little bro was trying to fix up one of his Merkur pieces of crap that had been sitting out in the weeds awhile so he could sell it. He was working under the dash trying to get his electricals working. There were some loose wires that he was going to twist together to get the blower or something working. He grabs one wire, and reaches up under the dash and grabs the other bare wire and gives it a tug. Turns out it was a dead mouse's tail and the whole thing came following down out of the dash. He still hasn't stopped running and screaming to this day. I think he has made it to Mexico by now. Could you imagine if he hooked it up without giving it a tug? The new owner would have had Franken-mouse to deal with..."Fire bad, cheese good!"

Ah, the dead mouse removal mod. I too have performed this, mostly on parts cars. Weight savings is low, but drivability is increased greatly.
Might also want to check the heater blower, because they like to nest in the round space...

I guess I wasn't looking specifically for mice. I intended to do some ECU Resistance/Voltage checks on some wires to diagnose my 3800 hesitation, (fixed it by the way). I came across the mouse treat totally by accident.
