maybe this thread is a little wrong.... couple this with a "I lost my keys and can't start my car, how to bypass?", and we've educated 11,000 ppl as to how to steal a 2G.
I'm sure many of us know as I do, but we should never tell people how to easily get into cars (or start them).
I recommend to get help if you can't do it yourself.

I don't think anyone that knows how to open a locked car (steal it) would've learned anything new from this thread. I'm sure they would already know how to use a slim jim...

It's online instructions for breaking into cars quickly and easily. The kind of car I own. I would prefer that those who don't already know how aren't provided with instructions to.
Its like instructions to build a bomb. The people who write the instructions already know how to build one, but those who don't know just have to read. Just as dangerous.
You didn;t know how to break into an FC. Now you do. Seems dangerous to me.

Oh, and opening a car is not stealing it. You can not start a car with a slim jim.

take the window seal off and then get a coat hanger and bend it to a L shape and you push down where the door lock is

you just have to put a U and a sharp point on the tip o a coat hanger and use the sharp point to grab the ridges on the bottom of the lock

REASONS
1 MY 90 GTU was recently stolen and totaled!
2 I live in the city and there have been 4 attempts to steal my car prior to my loss!
3 ITS to easy to steal these cars!
4 Now I have to take a ignition wire inside at night

well, use a slim jim, my dealer couldn't get my keys....., they gave me the wrong ones 4 times......., then i called my local PD, and the cops had a slim jim, they did it for free

if you are all concerned about a slim jim or coat hanger getting into your car, add an good alarm (not a crappy $300 installed one) and a simple block off aluminum plate around the the rod at the door latch in each door.

I mean com'on people if you are worried about your car getting broken into or stolen do something about it. You don't expect the factory lock or alarm system to stop anyone but the kid down the street that hasn't learned how to break into a car yet.

i kno this is late but....i just took off one of my wipers bent it a couple times and wala i was in. i then preceded to pull my keys out the ignition and into my pocket. of course i had to pry the window down a smidge.

Hmm, I wish everyone that has tried to break into my 7 would read this!
When I parked outside some crackhead idiots tried to force the locks w/ a screw driver 3 times, once breaking the tumbler mount in the handle and once broke off the handle trying to pull 'till it opened. I repaired all the damage (except a small dent from trying to pry the door open?), but I would rather they just stole my 80s Clarion tape deck (I keep my car empty so crap doesn't roll around cornering also looks less tempting).
I can unlock it in 3 seconds by folding a piece of stiff paper and sliding it between the glass and the trim just above and behind the tumbler and pushing down/back.
I hate thieves, but vandals are much worse!

u know, i had my keys locked in my car a couple times too and used a slim jim both times... It's really simple actually... too simple. But it seems like the person already got his keys out the car even though he did some weird technique i wouldn't have done. Slim jim, slip between window and window seal by the door handle area and voila you're in.

Real thieves would just goto the junkyard, and buy the spare door for 30 dollars, and practice at home, no matter the make of the car.

Ever see the ignition wiring on hondas? It's no real surprise that they get stolen as much as they do. They leave the wires you need to take the car in easy reach. I could probably take a honda with a knife and a few paperclips.

However, consider getting one of those magnetic key things to hide somewhere. Or, use 2 sets of keys like me. I have 2 rings. One ring has only the car. Other has car and everything else. So, no matter which one I use while driving, I can never lock myself out.

Most dealer can cut you a spare key if you just tell them your VIN...

Original Mazda keys have a 4-digit code on the key itself.&nbsp If you got this code, memorize it!

I am a complete idiot, and have locked the keys in my car MANY times.
Slim jims don't work well..

I always just wedge the front top of the door open a bit, straighten a coat hanger out, and put a little hook on the bottom. Just reach in and pull the lock up

The best was- one time I left my keys in the ignition..... (off), but the suroof was cracked open. I was able (after about half a freakin hour) to grab the keys with a coat hanger, and pull them out the back of the sunroof.

What's this about the factory alarm being crap? Seriously, no one is going to go boost an rx-7 because of info in this thread. Believe me, if they WANT your car, they'll GET your car.

This is just for us, so that in an inconvenient time we can get in. I'm in favor of the coat hanger myself. Worked on every car I've ever tried - though sometimes it took a while.

I don't have the same problem with locking my keys in the car - one of the pluses of having a convertible. But I did it regularly with my old Subie. No window frames, so pry the glass back, poke in the hanger, and push the unlock. Simple.

Call the cops. They'll be there within an hour. I had done this with my 1g talon. It had an alarm that locked the doors after x amount of time. I was putting a 3" exhaust on the car (no cats) and had gotten out just after starting. Welp.. a few seconds went by and I heard a *click*....damn. So the car was running with no real exhuast on it yet, dark *** windows (illegal in Ohio) and a host of other emission related no no's. So I took the wait time to wash the car. By the time I was done the cop was there. Took down my name, address, make, model etc etc. Asked if I had power locks..I said yes. He said it might make it harder to do. It took him approx 3.5 seconds to pop my lock open...no scratches, no f'ed up door handle...no problems. He was on his way and I learned that when I'm home from school to visit the rents that I should give them a spare copy of my key.

"Get an alarm..." I have an alarm. I don't think instructing people on opening these cars is any kind of great idea, alarm or not. Ppl ignore alarms.
You really think that everyone knows how to get into an RX-7? If so, why did this guy have to ask??
Plain and simple... are we really so secure with everyone on this list is trustworthy? I'm not. Where is the cheapest place to get RX-7 parts, say a shift **** or a SAFC or something? from another RX-7...
CHrist, use your heads! Yes, SOME people do know how to get in. SOME don't. We don't need to tell those who don't how to.
It's obvious some of you have never been broken into.

When my S4 was stolen (after less than 8 hours in the city in which i live) the thief inserted a flat-blade screwdriver/crowbar under the drivers door handle assembly and lifted it up. This must give access to the locking mechanism, though i haven't tried it myself.

This left the door locks working and undamaged, and then he pulled out the ignition with a slide-hammer.

I recovered my car (i will tell the almost unbelievably lucky story in another thread) but the ignition assembly was completely wrecked, and the doors need minor panel work.

However, it was obvious the thief knew exactly what he was doing, and the car looked completely fine at a casual glance.

The car has been parked at work in a secured garage since then, and i will be disconnecting the external locks (remote-activated central locking will be only way in) and fitting a demobilising alarm system before i park outside my house again.

Lock up your rotors, there are not many cars as much fun to drive, and as easy to break into as an RX-7.

Step 3: Find the dumbass that stole it and give 'em a beat down.

It's EASY to break into any car that doesn't have bulletproof glass using nothing more than the nearest rock.

You can buy a slim jim at the dollar store! It's not exactly like no one has ever heard of them.


Personally, I'd like to know ALL the ways to break into an FC so I can try to fix them. That's the right way to deal with a security problem, to fix it. NOT by pretending it doesn't exist and going "shhh... don't tell anyone".

Again, we need to be reminded that our locks become useless as any other slim (or same RX-7) key will fit in and both unlock our cars and turn our Motors over.

Spend the money and get new Locks...I found when I was able to slip my Key In 1/4 of It In, I was able to open my Driverside Door, Hatch Lock and Ign Lock. In the last month I've spent over $500 on new Locks all around and I've went as far as spending an additional $22 for the authentic Mazda Keys. The Locks were retumbled for free and the Ign lock comes with an Ignition Switch. Apparently, you cannot get the Lock on It's own.

Wouldn't you say that getting new Locks (providing they are worn), are top priority, over your next mod? I'd say so - for sure!
