Way to break into FC
Uh, I just locked my keys in my car (yes I know I'm a dumbass...) Is there an easy way to get back in or do I have to call a locksmith?

Yeah you can take another mazda key, and wiggle it and sometimes If the lock is worn enough you can get in. Also seen somewhere a long time ago, a flatblade screwdriver under the handle would get ya in, but dont know how it was done, and it could have been a 1st gen which is easy as pie to do like that..
All else fails write down the VIN number and visit the mazda dealer provided the locks are orginal

I've been meaning to get a spare...but never got around to it. I'd go to the dealer now, but the closest one is 30-40 minutes away, and well, you guessed it, my car isn't going anywhere for a little while...

Your dealer will make you a new key as long as you have the vin. More than likely you'll have to show him the title and an ID. If I remember correctly its about 6 bucks but its not a cheesey generic key.

And if you try a slim jim, be careful they will scratch the **** outta the glass. A friend of mine used the one i had on his car, and hes was boo hooing about the new little scratches...

Anyone know where on the door the latch is? (where the slim jim would go) I can't get to a dealer and don't want to bend over for a locksmith. Any FC specific instructions for slim-jimming would be much appreciated, thanks

You get an extra key, get your doors open, and you get beer!

I'm assuming that you don't have AAA or else you wouldn't be asking but do you know of any friends or family members with AAA? They'd send someone over to open the door for free. Everyone should consider AAA. Its an awesome investment.

i locked my keys in and i took the flat end of the lug wrench and pried a gap at the top of the door. then i took a coat hanger and put a sharp turn in the end and then cut the tip at a sharp angle so that it has a point on the end to grab the bottom of the door lock. get it in thereand pull up. it didnt hurt my door (slightly more of a gap but not much, still seals fine)

pull it out on the bend in the front of the roof. if you wrap the bar in something soft it will be better for your car. and find something you can jam in there so you dont have to pry it open the whole time you are working

I can kinda see down in the crack, is there anything I can look for that would make it easier to find the right thing to grab?

Well, i can tell you when i locked myself out of my 89 GXL, the guy from AAA couldn't get the slim jim to work. What he had to do was use a different tool(you can make one out of a coathanger most likely.
What this tool did was slide down inside the door on the outside, then slide back up (was U shaped) the inside, there was another U shape, and it went down to a wide tip with which he grabbed the lock, and just pulled up.

Get a door stopper. Shove it between the window glass and the channel, near the door handle. This should give you plenty of room to work.
The lock rod runs vertically at the end of the door, and I don't remember which way it goes to unlock it, but all you have to do is push it either down (or up) with something (been a long time, don't remember)to unlock it.
If you call a locksmith, pay cash. One charged me 20 bucks to pop my door open for me. He just stuck it in his pocket.
