Water temp sensor with spade connector?

Hello all. I have a 88 rx7, and I need some help with one wire. The wire is green and black, and the service manual says its a "Water temp switch" and it does match up with my harness. However what I am confused on is where it goes, and a what it does. I have seen that some of the other 2nd gen rx7 have them as 2 wire connectors, but I have seen none with a spade style connector like mine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Isn't that for the air control valve (emission function only) ? I could be wrong.

if you have a condenser fan, it would go in the thermostat cover. if you don't have the fan, it will still have the wire, just no switch/relay/fan
