round black connector under water temp sender?

what is the round black connector for that is located under the green connector that reads the water temps?

is it the thermastat switch? mine broke off... how do i replace it? it broke right at the connector so theres no wire to solder... help?

Sounds like the thermoswitch. Buy another from Malloy and get the 2nd Gen that switches at a lower temp. Just another reliability thing.

how do i replace it? im assuming the part comes with the connector with some extra wire and then i just solder it back into place? does this mean im running a 89-91 fc water pump?

this is the connector... idk why im showing my water pump lol....

my mechanic told me its a sensor to trigger the high speed fans? any confirmation?

Disconnect the battery. IIRC, remove the cross-over pipe, intake pipe from the IC and alternator to access it. It is identical in every way to the stock thermoswitch, with the exception that it's threshold temp to turn the fans on is 95 C. vs. the stock threshold of 108 C. But it does NOT come with a connector. You will need the original one.
