S4 N/A 1/4th I have noticed on my 13bt swap on a S4 that normal temp seems to be 1/4th acumulated to around 190F in pump housing.

Anything under that red mark is fine...between 1.4 and 1/2 is the norm.

it has been getting up to temp REALLY fast when its cold. then it goes about 3/4 of the way up the gauge and sits. then once i cruise for a mile or so it comes way down. how can i test if my gauge is bad? by the way its a S4 NA.

I would not bother personally anymore. Just use an after market water temp gauge. Many users have suggested this others don’t. My recent experience after installing a temp gauge is I do not trust factory anymore.

guy, that's not a problem with your guage. If anything, that's a key indication that your guage is functionaing propperly. When was the last time you checked your coolant level?

If I had to pull a key solution out of my ***, I'd say you've got air in your cooling system.

I would drill and tap a hole in the cooling system for an aftermarket water temp gauge such as Greddy or HKS. Never can be too sure of these things man, especially when a few degrees can mean the difference of a pricy rebuild or plenty more years of trouble free driving

The stock S4 guage reads perfectly fine. I wouldn't invest in an aftermarket guage unless you have a fondness for numbers or more guages...

Ahh. The S4 bleed screw is on the side of the top neck on the RAD. The drain plug is on the bottom. The S5 does not have a bleed screw. You need to fill and run it and take off the top cap and fill wile running.

Anything over 1/2 is BAD.
We're talking getting over 230F...
