do starters match?
will a starter from a 1987 mazda rx7 n/a, manual transmission fit a manual transmission 1988 n/a model?
i sold one and the guy told me they dont match, is it true?

Yes.
If they are both non-turbos, they should be identical.
The only exception would be automatic trans versus manual trans, but you stated they are both manual.
Other than that, turbo versus non-turbo are different but you state both were "n/a".
