Water Pump Housing / Throwout Bearing

I am working on a TII swap. I am starting to reassemble what I can (limited) and replace parts as needed on the way.

I have replaced the front and rear seals on the transmission and the throwout bearing (TOB) as well. My question is what kind of grease/lube due I apply to the shaft that the TOB slides back and forth on?

I have also put a new complete S4 water pump housing on too. What I am not understanding is why it has a hole on the backside (closest to the firewall) and on top of the water neck (see pic below). When I looked them up in the parts diagram they both had the same part number (8574-18-840C).

Thanx

Michael

I use synthetic grease for the tranny input splines and TO bearing... specifically, NEO brand grease.

The hole in the filler neck is for a coolant sensor which turns on the stock electric fan.
The hole in the back of the water pump housing is for the water temperature sensor for the ECU.
