Want more/earlier boost from your HT18

All the drivers at the Deal's Gap Rotary Rally heard this thing.
I was running low boost the whole time.
Nice quiet ride up there, then unleash the beast!

It was louder than the RX-3 (of course he had his baffles in)

It was sweet at full song in the canyons.
I did close it in the parking areas.

What is that? Electric cut-out?

EDIT: Just read your sig. I am a jackass.

A buddy of mine had one of those right off the downpipe on his STi. Sounded like a ******* chopper when he opened it. Said he noticed a nice change in power with it open.

This whole mod goes in place of the pre-cat.

So maybe you can weld prettier than I

The biggest difference shows in 1st & 2nd gears.

Closed I get 5, 6, 11, 12, 12 PSI
Open I get 10, 11, 13, 13, 13 PSI

It's the "I can teach myself how to weld" job done with a hacksaw, a hammer, and a borrowed MIG welder.

The MBC is set for 12 PSI.

Under most conditions the ported waste gate keeps it under 13.

On cold mornings I keep the dump valve closed or it will creep to 14-15.

My ground clearance is 4.5". The exit flange is 3.3"
I suppose if I reved the engine in one spot too long it would melt the tar in the road.
Of course it has to be closed over grass.

I started getting high boost fuel problems.
I had the boost controller set too high and did a test with the dump open on a cool morning.
The boost spiked and it blew off the FPR hose under the UIM.

The lesson: zip tie ALL the hoses and don't open the dump on cool mornings.

I had been warned - boost is addictive - IT IS!
