Did you use the proper install kit (i.e. use the proper rubber bushing *underneath* the fuel pump that connects to the metal bracket)?

Did you "clamp" the fuel pump to the metal bracket?
If so, this will cause all kinds of whining due to the vibration traveling through the metal bracket.

I believe much of the noise comes from the fact that the internals are metal, not plastic. Walbros are also known to whine even louder is they are strained (i.e. if the pump sock is clogged). I'm not sure if a clogged main fuel filter can add to this...

i hated how loud mine was. but it was also a good thing because when my car wouldn't start and it was awfully quiet i knew what the problem was right away. it lasted about 2 years which i hear is about right. i'm going with the competition fp from rx7.com and wouldn't recommend the walbro to anyone but you can't beat the price.

Mine isnt unbearably loud, but noticeable. Its not too big a deal though, as I cant hear it over my exhaust anyway while the car is running.

Yup, the Aeromotive external pump is LOUD. Now that would definitely get annoying.
