Been covered. It is an extremely difficult DIY job. I bought a top similar to that, and am going to find someone who can put it on. I still expect it to be $$$$$$$.

Not that hard, just time consuming and nerve-wracking. I spent several weekends doing mine. Just after I finished, I could have done another top in a weekend easily. The big difficulty with the install is the uncertainty. When you don't know exactly how to execute the next step, you walk away and think it through. Let it simmer in the mind, because you know that if you move carelessly or hastily, you screw up the top and lose $300. None of the tutorials can remove that issue. Once you have replace a top, the uncertainty is removed.

I used AAbestco bought on ebay, same price.

K, thanks. I'm going to have a local shop install the top. I was just curious about the quality.

A guy in Morristown, TN probably the cheapest upholster told me he'd do it for $450-500. I havn't had it prices anywhere else becuase when I was getting my headliner done for my buick everyone else wanted 150-175 while he only wanted 100. So. I expect it to cost a ton more everywhere else.

Definiately check around for prices. I went to 4 different shops till I found one that will do it for $450. I had quotes up to $900...yeah right.

A local shop is doing it for $400 for me. They've been in the buisness since the early 70's and are known for there superior work.

I have an AABestco one and the quality is decent, I can't complain. Keeps me dry. I paid like $300 shipped for mine if I recall, it was almost 3 years ago.

That link has just enough info to make you brave. It leaves lot of things out and will leave you hanging. Combine that link with the info from this archived post.

Use the torquecentral plus the archive link. Inside the archive, you will find a link to a Jeep site that teaches you how to rope in the rear window.

This combogives you the most complete overview, but truthfully, there is lots left out. Go slow and it will work out just fine.

Good Luck!

Do most of the tops come precut? because some tutorials from different places explain cutting the tops and punching their own holes and such, some of the ones on ebay say fits directly on and others just don't explain enough, I dont wanna get screwed when I go to buy one with one I need to cut out and punch my own holes in and cause myself more to stress about.
