VDI help....

ok I tried the search function but for some reason it keeps on freezing my browser....?!?!?!? probably something to do with connection... ill try again later, but for now..
I had posted way before about my dyno, and some of you all gave info on the vdi and to check if it is functioning properly...
I do not have 5/6 ports anymroe, so i know that the compressed air tactic is kind of usless ... or is it??
could someone help me with a walk through on how and where I could check if it is functioning and some how to solutions???
I tried researching about the vdi, but i am absolutely clueless ..
thanks for your help

you removed your 5/6 ports? Did you remove the air pump?

I have a generic pressure guage with a long hose & a T on the end. I connect it to whatever, set the guage on the dash, & go for a drive.

The VDI needs a source of low pressure air to work.
I searched a few months back and found a writeup about using an electric emmissions pump from a Corvette.

put the pump back on. That's the simplest way to go.

Your VDI isn't working right now.
It needs the air pump. Just put it back in and hook it up and hook it only to the VDI.
Or just lock the VDI in high position... by unhooking rod and tying the actuator arm ..up... or down... can't remeber.. but it's the position where the actuator arm is extended anyways, not hard to see.
You may loose a bit of low end torque, but if you leave it in low, you will loose peak high rpm power.. not good for racing!

Put the air pump back on so that the VDI and 6PI work. The gains from having these two systems working properly far outweigh any gains from removing the air pump.
