Vacuum schematic

Hey guys I am rebuilding my engine and I want it to stay almost stock and PA has very tricky emissions etc so I figured I might as well put the vac lines back on but I had a really difficult time with my bad eyes figuring what goes where and most of my lines broke because they were so brittle so I made this .. and I figured that alot of people MIGHT have the same problem I hope it helps someone or anyone???

that is now a better vaccuum diagram than those that are floating around the forum. Good post.

Change your title to also include the word Diagram for future searches.

I know first hand what a PITA it is to read and figure out where the hoses go and this helps.

+1 I'm going to need this in a couple days. I was just thinking how much I hate trying to read the B&W diagrams in the Haynes manual for such things... And low and behold this thread comes wandering in for my make and series.

Very nice color-coded diagram, but I have one question for the original poster - is this for a series 4 (87-88) or a series 5 (89-91) T2? FWIW, there are a few minor vacuum plumbing differences.

Yea, I'm very interested in the S5 too.

Not to highjack this thread but I've dug everwhere for a similar color "full" schematic for the headlight cluster switch, the CPU, etc. - And cannot find them on any forum anywhere.

These parts are slowly dying away, and the manuals get you close for common repairs, but a REAL schematic would allow you to take the boards to anyone that knows electronics,, to troubleshoot faster.

I stopped at the 86na. It has major problems. The Relief, Switching, and FPR are wrong. I didn't look any further at that one nor the others

You've got Switching doing the EGR.

You've got Relief going to the back of the dynamic chamber where purge lines should go etc.

The DARK purple and the Green that are going to the lower intake manifold are the Relief and Switching lines. I'm talking about the two lines close together going to the far side of the lower intake manifold.

hopefully we can get all the corrections made and then a mod can edit the original posts and add the thread to the archive.

Good efforts. I'm sure we'll get these perfect.

There are Three metal nipples on the front of the series four na dynamic chamber. One on top is a large one and goes to feed fresh filtered air to the OMP spider. You show it in RED. That line is Correct.

The third line you have colored grey???? Well in your picture one looks and thinks it is tee'd to the fuel line going to the Fuel Pressure Regulator. And it does not and could not in life. So, I suggest you change the color of that line to something distinctly different than the Fuel line going to the FPR.

That *grey* line is vacuum, and should be the same colour as the line going to that CHECK VALVE.

The Fuel Return line should have been the same colour as the line at the FPR. They seem different to me. Maybe they're the same color? And it's me that can't distinguish the fuel return line at the FPR with the one at the the far right of the jpg?

It might have been better if when dealing with the solenoids on the rack, if you had used the colors of the plugs on their electrical connectors. Such as the FPR solenoid. It is colored Orange on it's electrical plug. So maybe the line going to the FPR could have been Orange. And the Relief solenoids electrical plug is Blue. So the line going to the ACV from the Relief solenoid would be Blue

There's something annoying about that picute out of the Haynes. I just know the na had a line going to feed the primary fuel injector air bleeds and it's not shown in that picture. They've got the air line that should feed that air bleed going to the subzero assist thing. I may be wrong about that since the FSM shows the same thing. Gotta go look at the na sometime. Pay no attention to this last paragraph.

I posted this in the other thread as well should work fine. There are a few confusing parts, and I wish I had a camera to take a pic of the vac diagram from under my hood because it's easier to understand.
