Question V-mount intercooler

How much/what type of work would it take to run a V-mount intercooler on an FC? I hear that a V-mount allows for quicker spool-up because of less intercooler piping. Where would I have to stick my radiator to do this? Also, about how much would this cost?

I was just wondering because I am now (thanks to lots of advice and input from fellow members) seriously considering a TII engine swap. However, I'm not sure if I'd be up to changing my hood for a TII or carbon fiber hood, and I was wondering if there was a way to do the V-mount intercooler job (as opposed to FMIC which has lots of metal piping). I would prefer to keep my stock NA hood, partially to keep an NA look.

On that note, any input on what is considered the "best" and preferably cheapest front mount intercooler kit is also much appreciated.

not quicker spool-up, but faster boost response...

You'd have to mount the radiator on the bottom, and I would mount the intercooler perfectly flat, so that they both make a "7". Then find a electro fan to place under the radiator, and find a way to seal the sides so air isnt escaping to the side.

It would also be nice to have a hood with a angled hole the size of the intercooler, because the air passing over the hood would create a vacuum and suck air through the intercooler while moving.

it's called a V-MOUNT....the Rdiator stays in the stock position and the intercooler is placed at such an angle that it makes a "V"........custom hood in necessary, and so are mounting brackets..........i have yet to come up with a definite price of the whole thing.....

Madrx7racer -> I'm looking to do the same thing here in a couple of months. But how can you keep the radiator in the stock position, it pretty much get's all the airflow were it sits right now.

Yowza. Screw that, it's time to do a little cutting and shove an IC in. Anyone have an idea of what's a good intercooler?
