Talking V-BAND Turbo T3/T4 W/ INTERNAL WASTEGATE .60 A/R

My reason for this thread is to find out what type of piping would be best to use for a custom turbo manifold to fit my .60 A/R T3/T4 turbo. This is the website that I bought it from http://www.advancedjdmparts.com/prod...cat=309&page=1. This is the exact turbo that I have. This is going on an 1988 gxl.

Well, there's no compressor map for that turbo, but from what I can see it'll push about the same or slightly less airflow then the stock turbo.

If you already bought this, sell it to a Honda guy, or throw it in the garbage.

Well if you would rear before posting, he said it going on a GXL. Meaning that its a turbo conversion. So wether it is as strong as the stock turbo or not, he paid $200 for a brand new stock turbo in a sense, not a bad price.

well what is the specs of the factory turbo. From what I understand the factory ht18 turbo is only good for about 12-14 psi. This one is good for 25 psi. Not that I plan on putting all 25 psi to it right away, but it is nice to know that if I want to go that far I can.

Any turbo is good for 25 pounds, just some might be pumping more heat than anything at that kind of pressure.

I am not looking for a whole lot of power yet. When I get reddy to do that I have already started saving for a turbonetics gtk 650. Right now I just want something to start getting the engine bay and motor ready. I want to start with something small and then add the big. This is my first rotary and I am not used to these kind of motors. Most of my background is in nissans and hondas. This is mainly just an expirement before the real deal.

Actually I did "rear" that before posting thank you.

Fact is the turbo is too small - especially if its going on a high compression N/A engine. (but that doesn't mean he's not doing a turbo swap, he mentions nothing aside from what he owns and the turbo he has)

It will work as well as/slightly better than a stock turbo.....soooooooo, why not just bolt on a stock turbo? You won't have to buy an aftermarket manifold for it, and any down pipe thats made for the turbo FC will bolt up.

If he's not shooting for awesomah powah, why not use a turbo thats been well proven to do 250whp all day every day with stock components instead of piecing together a custom hack job that will do the same?

No need for him to listen, but thats my advice.

My advice...ask less questions and read more.

By your (low) post count and above, ignorant things you're saying, you're not very well informed or too young to know any better...or both.

That turbo you just bought is CRAP.
Be lucky it stays together for a week.
If the specs are right, you'd MAYBE get...200hp out of it.
Yes, the stock HT-18 turbo is bigger.

how bout posting what you're turbo'ing...i.e N/A or TII and why would you go with such a little turbo?

some things you can't skimp out on man, and this is one of them.

this is just a gxl no turbo 2 swap or anything. I plan on turboing the n/a. I don't know a lot about rotaries or turbos for that matter this post has seemed to gotten me more info than what I had wanted, but in my case that is a good thing. I do not own that turbo yet. I do have the money for it, but have not purchased it just yet. Since reading some of the posts I think I will stick with the factory turbo and go ahead on that route. this is my first rotary and turbo that I have or will have done.

I would suggest you reading the FAQ, Turboing an N/A is not all that easy and cheap like Piston engine.
