hey evil aviator you say that people can really mess up their car when they are novice tuners, witch I can understand but I was wondering if you have any tips for us novice tuners??? I figured as long as I keep my a/f #'s in the safe I should be fine but is this not right?

I think the best thing is to find a good tuner who is willing to show you basically what he is doing. Then you can learn a little bit, and eventually try tuning on your own. Tuning is one of those things that you really need to learn with a hands-on approach. Even tuning piston engines would be a good experience. You may want to check your local technical schools to see if they offer a tuning course, as these are usually fairly inexpensive because local governments usually subsidize a lot of the tuition costs. You can certainly try tuning on your own without any help, but a mistake could cost you hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Otherwise, I just recommend that you have a professional tune your car. Not everybody needs to be Joe Tuner.
