While attempting to start my engine for the first time I've ran into a no crank/no click/no start issue. I spent pretty much the whole day diagnosing and reading threads about this problem and narrowed it down to the starter signal wire. Since I'm relooming my harness I decided to trace back the starter signal wire (b/y) and found that it leads to a plug with 3 spliced wires from the factory (b/y, b/w, g/y).
This is confusing because all the ignition diagrams show the starting circuit as essentially being: key > ignition switch > clutch switch > anti-theft relay > starter signal wire.
Not sure how but this plug shouldn't have been in my car...
I checked my parts car (also an 87 GXL) and found a spare mangled engine harness but it had a 4 pin white circular connector instead of this black one. Body harness on my car had the female end and after cleaning it up, finally got the car to turn over.
Maybe something to do with my car being from the US and the red parts car being from CAD? Idk but it works now
