UIM bolt

im curious if the one bolt on the UIM can cause a vac leak if not screwed in? i was tightening the UIM back on and i tightened all the nuts and everything on and the last thing was that bolt and i tightened it a little too much and i think it just stripped and it didnt want to lock into place and just kept turning and turning and im curious if that can cause a vac leak. i noticed my idle would be weird sometimes after that but i'm not sure if its that and the screwe doesn't appear to be like snapped in half or anything?

That bolt needs to be tightened down in a cross-torque pattern along with the nuts, IMO, to keep everything flat and not warped.

If the bolt's doing nothing now, I'd have to guess that the inboard area of that UIM-LIM mating surface would definetly be susceptible to a leak now.

You just have the paper gasket there, with no RTV or other gasket sealer on it?

instead of the hole being threaded, you insert something that looks like a spring, called a helicoil. The bolt threads into the helicoil.

What Project said, plus this...

Go to your auto parts store, they should have helicoil kits. Try to bring the bolt with you if possible. Follow the instructions on the kit. Not hard to do at all.

May want to use a bit of anti-seize compound on the bolt threads after you get the helicoil in, because you'll probably be dealing with dissimilar metals at that point. Anti-seize is at the auto parts store too, BTW...
