i believe the manual says 87 .... for n/a you should use 87, for T2's i think theres a debate between using 87 or 91 for stock T2's, but modded T2s should use the highest octane possible.

I use 87 for the n/a and 91 for the T2

Different countries have some variation in what RON (Research Octane Number) is standard for gasoline, or petrol. In the UK, ordinary regular unleaded petrol is 91 RON (not commonly available), premium unleaded petrol is always 95 RON, and super unleaded is usually 97-98 RON. In the US, octane ratings in fuels can vary between 86-87 AKI (91-92 RON) for regular, through 89-90 (94-95) for mid-grade (European Premium), up to 90-94 (RON 95-99) for premium unleaded or E10 (Super in Europe)

When I purchased my '89 TII new in May '89, I used 87 which was the recommended rating. I continued to use 87 until slight modifications were done when the new engine was installed in 2001. At that time, and since I've used 93.

If you can get 94 octane (There's one station around here that has it and it's about $0.25 more than 93), that's approximately 99 RON.

I use 89 on my N/A because I'm used to it. I use 93 on my scooter because it's so cheap. I'm basically a marketing ***** that believes Shell puts something useful in the higher octane gas.

I just edited so that there now is...

You must have accidentially erased the "te]" from the [quote]

And I used 87 in all my non turbo motors (better burn quicker when compressed) and 91 in my Turbos.

Ultimately, you want to run the lowest octane fuel you can get away with. Some later model cars have ECUs that are smart enough to advance the timing to a point just before detonation, when higher octane is introduced. Unfortunately, our ECUs arent really that smart. 87 for anything stock, and once you start modding, increase your octane as needed to keep up with your modifications. This applies more for the TIIs then the N/As

87 due to the high gas prices.

I've always recommended running low octane (87 in most areas) in the NA according to the manual, but one step up in the TIIs. Might have to go higher in the TII if you start modding.

Been using 87 for like 7 years now.
I don't have a massive turbo or anything crazy.

Any specific mods when to start increasing octane?
-Turbo Upgrade
-FMIC
-Boost Increase
-Etc.
