Thumbs down turboing a 6 port N/A motor, 2nd try

okay, so, my other thread was locked since I didn't search, and asked like 3 quick questions. well, after searching for a couple hours, I found the answer to one of my questions, which would have taken 5 minutes to write like 4 words to answer.
and I could not find anything to help with the other 2 questions so maybe now you guys can help since I've wasted 3 hours of searching.

okay, so, what I need to know is:

can I bolt on a S4 TII front cover to a S5 N/A motor, and be able to use the stock oil lines to the turbo(obvioulsy they'd need a little modification since the turbo is 2 inches farther out)?

and, will the S5 OMP work with the S4 TII front cover?

thanks.

oh, and even just a simple 'yes' or 'no' is great.

expect another thread lock. this stuff has been covered so many times it's expected that you use the search feature and faq section.

Yes, the front cover will fit. No the oil lines won't fit. No the OMP won't fit. Ok, and here's the most important thing you turbo n/a guys are seeimgly misunderstanding.

YOU CAN NOT ONLY RUN 2-5PSI ON A TURBO. The wastegate spring is set for 6psi, so it ONLY opens at this pressure, meaning you can't run anything less. A lot of you say 'oh i'll just run like 3 or 4 psi until I get some bigger injectors/etc', well that's not possible. I realize your last thread didn't say this, but you did say you'd run only 5 (which isn't possible). Yes, I'm one of the few people who did turbo their N/a, and I'm still running this setup. The best thing to do, is either make your own oil lines (just drill/tap/put a hose barb on the front cover) then cut off the oil return and run a rubber hose to it), or you can attempt to just get the complete setup from a TII for that series, although it is a bit difficult to get them to fit. I used a custom setup using a tII front cover with a rubber hose connecting the return to a custom flange/pipe i made for the front cover.

Just a quickie on the ´rubber´ hose for the oil return.

Make sure it doesn´t run anywhere near to the exhaust manifold/turbine housing.
Mine made a nice bit of smoke when it melted through.
I ended up using braided stainless steel for mine after that.

I used the the front cover of my S5. However, I had to tap into it and use a steel hose. Rubber house will deteriorate with the hot oil. The OMP is needed if using a stock S5 ECU.

My quickie rubber hose was nothing but problems. It split twice, luckily I was only a minute or two from home. This could be a disaster on the highway. My new setup is all AN and stainless braided, which I suggest. Second best is to just use standard flexible plumbing pipe from the hardware store, which is equally as strong and has many fittings available...

As for the front cover, yes it will fit. No, you can't swap the metering oil pump, and the oil drain pipe will not fit.

BTW, the reason your first thread was locked is because this comes up 2 to three times a day, and is well coverd in the FAQ. The reason this thread is not being locked is because I can't recall anyone ever asking the front cover question before, and SonitRat's post.

I DID ******* SEARCH!!! I guess, like aaron cake said, not many (if any) have asked about the front cover thing. so maybe thats why I couldn't find it in my 3 hour search, if you bothered to read my post. maybe I should have titled it differently.

okay, and thanks a bunch for the answeres. you guys covered much more than requested!

well it's cool with me, I'm not the one that locks the threads around here, not even a mod... just a heads up based on what I observe in this neck of the woods. Good luck with the boosted ex-NA.
