Question Turbo Upgrade Size?

Well, I was just wondering, what would be a good size for a turbo upgrade? I've got an 87 Turbo II, and I was wanting something alone the size of a T3/T04, but my buddy seems to think that it won't fit the exhaust manifold right. Would a T3/T04 fit the exhaust manifold? If not, what would be a good size to get for my car? I'm looking to make over 300 rwhp for as little money as possible, although I know that a turbo upgrade will be expensive as crap. I'm already getting a new exhaust (downpipe back), I've got an intake, and I'm looking into a front mount intercooler after the exhaust. Any help is appreciated!

!Peace out!

i say get a big size
but after you get a big turbo you'll need to replace alot of other stuff so you won't wreck everything, especially your fuel system.

A T3 turbine housing is not going to mate with the stock manifold.

The stage 1 87-88 will run you $600 plus shipping with your rebuildable core. This is what it comes with:

T04B compressor upgrade
factory compressor cover is machined to fit the larger compressor wheel.
All new bearings/piston rings
clipped turbine wheel
rotating assembly is balanced and blueprinted
30mm wastegate assembly
ported turbine housing entrance

The stage 1 is good for up to around 310 RWHP max. at or below 15 psi of boost.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Bryan

there you go!

Hope this helps

oh yeah this is from BNRsupercars@aol.com

Okay...now if I want to have that done, do I have to send them the turbo off of my car right now? And what else would I have to do to my car to get it up to that 310? Injectors, fuel pump, exhaust, fmic, what? Because if it's really that inexpensive, I may get that done soon. Thanks for the help!

Oh yeah, do they make a stage II? And what is the price if they do?

Check out rx7-store.net under turbo upgrades.

Anyways.
For a 300hp turbo.
A front mount will not hurt since your making more power, you'll be making more heat. The top mount can heat soak easier.

720 injectors for the secondaries might cover it but 680 might be good for primary.

A Walboro fuel pump orsomething else would be needed as well.

A SAFC or aftermarket EMS would also be needed.

I'm pretty sure they use your turbo to do that since they mention new bearings and so on.

give that guy an email and he will tell you everything. I'm sure they have a stage two and three. He is quick to respond and from what I saw a pretty nice guy.

You can get an adapter plate machined up very cheaply...
As I did to mine... 18mm think steel plate cut to size with some bolt holes drilled and then a little bit of porting and there ya go. You can now fit a T3 flange style turbo to your stock manifold all for just a couple of dollars..

Would you have to buy an adapter plate, or have one made? I'm not exactly sure what the T3 flange looks like anyway. But I believe that may be what I do. I really like the idea of a T3/T4 the more I look at it. Could someone post a pic of the flange or something to help me out please? Thanks!

Well, I've found one for cheap. Plus, I've heard a lot of good things about the T3/T4. If nothing else, I was gonna get a big T3 for my car. I've just heard a lot of good about the T3s, especially their reliability, and I've been wanting one for forever now.

1) Sell your TII
2) Buy a Honda
3) Buy the T3/T4 turbo that will work great on a Honda

There, now you can use that T3/T4 turbo that you always wanted, and somebody who appreciates the TII and has the money to step up to a real sportscar can enjoy it. Now everybody is happy.

Ouch, but true.

TII owners don't usually deal with rinky dink turbo's like a T3/T4...

...save your money and wait till you can afford to do things the correct way.
