Some simple misc questions..
Today i went to go and start my 1990 GXL after storing it for a couple weeks. Started fine...
I was fooling around with some stuff inside..
Anyways..
1.) When i turn the brights on, they actually make the lights go dimmer.....
Other than that they pop up fine and stuff...
2.) On the idiot light panel 2 lights don't light up..
The 1st one i don't think there is anything to even light up. It's on the top 2nd over from the right.
Also the one on the bottom in the far left doesn't light up when all the rest do.
Could someone tell me if its even suppose to light up there or if its burnt out??
3.) Reving the engine when it warmed up in neutral i found it alot smoother around 4-5 grand rather than between 1-3.... Is this normal for a rotary?
It idled smooth when warmed up. Also i heard some slight "poping" from the exhaust when warming up the engine. My car has no cats, is this normal? I figured it was just running rich from being so cold...
Thanks

No this has nothing to do with batt or alternator...
All of the lights come on except 2..
1 in the bottom far left corner, and another in the top 2nd over from the far right.
I would like to know what these are because when i start my car every light comes on except these 2.

typical RX7 electrics? lol. I'm no electrical genius,so I can't help you.
However,I have similar problems. Randomly, during warmup,my Add Coolant buzzer comes on,and then shuts off as soon as the car starts moving.
When I have my defrost, heat,or lights on,my clock goes out,and the car idles low (300-800rpm). Seems like it wants to stall. The lights also go kind of dim sometimes.
Keep in mind this car also needs new plugs and a new air filter, but I think the alternator may also be on it's last leg.

not to mention i also get **** gas mileage. I filled up the other day with like 32 litres of gas and I've driven like 250km and I'm down to almost a 1/4 tank from a nearly full tank. Time for plugs and filter fo sho.
Great...time to look for an alternator...

Yes, dont go out and buy a new alternator since they are so easy to get to you might as well just pop it off and go to a local auto parts store, most the places i know will test it for free. and if it is bad then you should just be able to get a new brush set for it, hey! its only a $5 fix that way
PS oh yeah and i think its the same way with my car, i think its just normal

The lower left light is for the parking brake. You can determine if it is operating by putting on the parking brake, which should cause it to light.
The second from the top right corner is for ABS. If your car does not have ABS, it won't illuminate.
See page T-52 of the FSM.

OK, the ABS one must be correct.
The Brake light isn't though because that does come on when i put on the E-brake... Different spot on the idiot panel though...
Also when i drive and i don't have my seatbelt plugged in, there is no light... Whats going on here?
