They're different.

2nd to last paragraph:
"With the introduction of the Turbo in 1986, Mazda added a much beefier transmission. This transmission is patterned after the early "Ribcase" 13B 5-speed, and appears to be excellent, but they made it difficult to install in other models. The bellhousing diameter (not the bolt pattern) is larger, the flywheel is larger, the starter is different and mounts further out, and the driveshaft yoke is larger. It can be installed in other cars (we've done a few) but it is not a "Bolt-In"."

I think there is an RX8 starter that is 2.4 KW. Now THAT is a starter!

i can't find any info that a 2.4 exists... i will say the brand new 2.0 i got on ebay load tested at 2.3... also i didn't think the auto was 2.0? i thought it was more like 1.7-1.8?
the FC auto starter is 2.0kW. ACDelco 336-1466 says 2.0KW right on it and it bolts right up (I have one on my car now)

Yup. Mine is also 2.0 reman by Bosch unit, cranking my TII everyday. The motor is considerably longer than the original TII unit. And it does crank faster.
