Turbo kits for FD, and fitment onto FC block

Generally, there are some really nice single turbo kits out now for the FD. Im looking at some such as the GT35/40 kit, as well as a few others. I know that the FC and FD have the same bolt-pattern for the exhaust manifolds, so that should bolt up no problem. The only problem I forsee would be something hitting the FC LIM, since it sticks out further than the FD LIM, which hugs the housings more. If I were to buy an FD turbo setup, what are the chances of it fitting my FC? I know RB sells a spacer for the exhaust manifold, so even that would be no huge deal. I know it wouldnt be an exact fit, but with some minor adjustments I dont see why it wouldnt work. Can anyone confirm this?

Lenny it seems like you go through more turbo setups than Vin Diesel... what happened to the old Greddy Twin Setup for the FC?

I really wanted that, but the deal fell through, seller just quit replying. Oh well. I still have my Td07 kit, but am just looking for something a bit more efficient, and can possibly make a bit more power.

I still want that kit! if not I am going to custom a twin setup.
But as far as I could tell when I looked into the FD turbo Kit for FC, for the most part the fitment is good they require minor amounts of modification like changing the angle of the flange for the turbo so that it will clear the fender and such. for the most part it is a bunch of minor modifications. from what I have read!

The exhaust maifold will bolt up fine, but you might hit the 2nd gen lower intake. The FD intake tucks in more then the FC.

Yea, thats what I was thinking, which hopefully can be solved with a small spacer, or re-angling the turbo flange.

it should. the only difference between the FC and FD turbo blocks was the port shape I thought. The intake manifolds were different, but I thought the irons were pretty much identical.

That is an adapter to fit the FD UIM onto the FC LIM, not the FD LIM to the FC block... The FD LIM will not bolt onto the FC block!

The difference is that the FD kits place the turbo close to the engine...the FD LIM doesnt stick out very far, and it is also placed about an inch higher up than the FC one. The ports in the FD block are angled UP a lot, and the actual block is taller on the intake side to reflect this. The FD turbos had to be blockhuggers as well because the FD frame is narrower than the FC.

No, an FD LIM will not bolt to an FC block...nowhere close.

Yes, an FD turbo manifold will bolt to the FC block, or any other 13b for that matter.

Yes, a kit designed for the FD will hit the FC LIM, unless spaced out or rewelded to a different angle.

Yes, you can engineer an FD UIM onto an FC LIM, but this doesnt help us ANY with respect to turbo fitment.

Keep in mind that oil and water supplies and returns to turbos made for the FD will be slightly different as well.
