Turbo intake mani on an N/A......

I was wonderin What the advantages would be if I took and s5 turbo intake manifold and out it in an s4 N/A car, if any. I was just wondering about this the other day. Good idea or bad idea?

Most engine builders will agree that if you want serious power through some good porting, the 4 port is the only way to go. You can equalize the size of the ports better. Won't retain driveability as well as the 6 port, but then hey.

Even if they bolted together, the respective UIM's are designed quite differently. To put it really simply, one is designed to be sucked through, the other blown through, so the the Turbo UIM may not work as well as the NA one without the turbo. Besides, both use the same size TB, so I can't see any real advantage to make the Turbo one worth swapping to.

BUT... it WOULD still work ... just maybe not worth it.

The only advantage would be that it's shorter than the N/A, but I'm sure the guys at Mazda made it that long for a reason. I wouldn't mess with it. Why fix it if it ain't broken?

There's no advantage to doing this. Even though the parts will bolt on, you'll loose power for the reasons already stated in this thread.
