^^^^that's like saying "My body has an adaptive system. Any time I eat something that I'm allergic to I shut down and limp around until it's fixed!!" It's not the same to me. One system adapts to throttle and fuel changes, the other goes to limp mode when something is wrong.

well think about it this way:

if your park bench is made out of concrete and wood (along with all the benches in your park) and I try to grab one and put it in MY park (which has the NEW metallic benches with special paint that is fart resistant) it will not be acceptable( yes it will serve the same purpose but it was not specifically designed for MY park). similar parks, similar grass, but one old guy is going to fart while sitting in it and it will catch on fire.

seriously though you cannot tune a car based on someone else's AFRs. You can BALLPARK IT (no pun intended) but you can't assume your car will run the same (specially turbo cars). Same applies to medication; YOU might have high cholesterol, just like me, except that I have a rare liver problem and YOUR meds might disable me. Will my cholesterol decrease?? hell yes!!! but so will the ability for my liver to function and jaundice will be one of the side effects, oh, along with death.

edit: i just noticed you said park bench SPOILER!!! and I'm too lazy to come up with anything new and retype it but you get the idea.

Actually AFR's are universal, as are EGT's. There is a general target AFR for rotary engines, and that is invariable. The methods for reaching those target goals are variable however, and that is what tuning is all about.
