Turbo II wont start........
I have a 87 turbo II with a 90 motor, its always started, but recently here and there when i go to start it, it cranks more then usual before it fires up. maybe an extra 2 seconds or so, but its noticable.
but just now i went out to start it and it cranked and cranked, but i got nothing.
i dont know what it can be.
BTW, i have a fuel cut, but i dont think that is a factor since i made sure the switch was on for fuel under the dash, i have this to stop flooding, and security of course.
any have any ideas y my motor isent firing up?
thanks for any help,
Mike

Maybe...
I was having the same problem with my '89 TUrbo II, I found that when I inspected the engine compartment on the passanger side beside the intercooler, there is a (sorry for my lack of technical terms) little motor looking like thing close to the intercooler in-pipe that connects to a white connector, mine had come lose and was making my car hard to start and running like crap.
Maybe that will help (also when was the last time you replaced your fuel filter/spark plugs and ran some injector/fuel system cleaner through there?) I just got a ton of stuff replaced on mine to make it run better, and MAN does it ever run better.
Sadly my boost gauge is broken and I have an exhaust leak though...crap (I am going to have to go to an aftermarket boost gauge if I can't fix the stock one (a new stock one is over $250)

Laying Down Rotary Law
make sure the turbo inlet duct is not loose
I had this problem and the car was hard to start untill I made sure the duct was all the way in the turbo
and tight

yeah i had that problem with the inlet coming loss, when that happens the car will start, but it will not maintain idle and stall. the problem i am having is it just cranks and nothing is happening.
strange.

starting
don't forget your simple mechanics: mine was doing the same and it turned out to be the starter. eventually it died, but when i replaced the starter the motor would fire up with a vengeance. as the starter wears it no longer produces the rpm's required to start the motor. mine cranked and cranked but nothing, everyone said it was a blown motor. the fools. anyway autozone has rebuilds available, but they need a core. lifetime guarantee not too shabby.
