Turbo engine??

OK yesterdayi was talking to a guy who owned a 91 rx-7 Turbo. He bought the car non running and also bought another turbo engine to put in it.. Ended up he got the car running and sold it. Now he has no need fot the other engine and is willing to sell it to me with tranny and intercooler... etc... etc.. I have a few ?'s about it though before i get it. my car is a 91 non turbo and i was wondering what all is needed to swap this baby into mine. More important is that he said in the process of moving the engine he broke a piece off the tail of the tranny. is there a big difference between the non turbo and the turbo tranny? will my non turbo bolt up and work with the turbo engine? I would be getting it for 250.00 and he says it was running but who knows if he is Not telling the truth right..

you'll need a new harness, ecu, injectors, pressure sensor, and...that's all i can think of right now...
as far as the tranny goes, your n/a will bolt up, but may not be able to handle the "power" of the t2 engine...it is recommended that you swap out your tranny and rear diff over to a t2.

check the "FAQ for FC" sticky for more info...

Tell me more about the engine? Is it used or rebuilt? J-spec or american? Rebuilt by who if rebuilt? If you can wait about 2 weeks and it is rebuilt by someone reputible and you have the receipt, I would be very interested in buying it from you.

Engine

I no absolutly nothing about the engine myself. It is a person who i know who has it. He says he saw the engine run and all. i think he payed 600.00 for it. this is about all i know. if you have read my earlier post i been having probs with my engine. i ordered the parts for it and if i fix it i will sell the engine if not then im swapping it. i just was wondering how hard it would be to swap it and what extra parts i would need. Here is the car i found for 600.00 by the way

Let's see, to do it properly:
Harness
ECU
Pressure(boost sensor)
Boost gauge (not a very good idea not to keep an eye on boost)
Downpipe/or precat/maincat from a turbo to hook it up to your exhaust
T2 driveshaft
T2 rear-end
t2 halfshafts
T2 brake booster line (make sure it has the check valve!)
T2 turbo inlet duct (or make your own)

don't need to swap injectors, and if the engine is 'stock' a NA tranny could hold up to it, but then you have to swap flywheels/clutches/counterweights and that gets to be a pain in the ***

ya, your better off with a turbo tranny, if you look you can usually find one for about 300 or 400 and then jut have it rebuilt for a few extra bones and there ya go, if you plan on making any power at all you;ll need a turbo tranny, also when you replace the rear diff you might want to get some new rear diff mounts as they have a tendency to break

good find, thats in nice condition. from the price, it sounds like a used engine, but if you could ask the guy who has it if you get a chance i'd appreciate it. whats wrong with the engine in your car?
