turbo end/sideplay
Anyone know what the endplay and rotor to housing(side play) should be in a '87 turbo? (in .001s) I bought a jspec and the turbo has a little side play in it and I want to replace it if its bad.

The key determainant Is that the blades do not rub against the Compressor. Simutaneously, rotate the assembly and pull It to one side to confirm...If no friction Is there, you have a usable Turbo In respect to the question. The flipside to this Is to make sure there Is no play from front to back - not even a hair. Than a rebuild Is required should this be the case.

Silverrotor> Thanks for the advice. I have no endplay, but there seems to be a little side to side play, but no rubbing.
I work on 1500 to 4000HP turbocharged marine diesel engines and we have to check endplay and sideplay once a month and there are specs to show whats max, so I thought that there might be some specs as to what is within tolerances.
