Question Turbo Conversion - Wiring

Hi,

I am currently doing a N/A to T2 Conversion. I already
removed all the T2 needed parts I think I need. But my
problem/questions concerns the wiring, that goes
through the drivers side. Do I need this wiring, or
can it be used as is from the N/A. Because first I
tried to remove this wiring too (like passenger
side-which I know I need) but it is a huge
"cable-mess" because it goes to the fusebox and to
every corner in the cockpit - so impossible to pull it
out. But I dont want to do anything wrong...

Thanks a lot

Harry

PS: By the way: Do I also need to use the T2
Instrument Cluster (because of the boost gauge)?

what spec is your car? if EURO, u will need to rewire few more things than usually (because switching from distributor to CAS)

yes, u need TII engine harness

no u don`t need to change instrument cluster if u will use aftermarket boost gauge

Yes its EURO! So I would appreciate more detailed information if you have, because all I've read now is US...
What does CAS mean? But I think you mean the ignition, dont you?

yes, u need TII engine harness
I knew this, so I got the harness out that goes to the ECU (passenger side). But is the drivers-side harness also needed? And if so - any hints how to get it out?

if your car has distributor type ignition, u will need to install turbo Crank Angle sensor plus all necessary coils and stuff.....and these things have own harness which goes thru drivers main loom.....hard to get it out without taking everything apart :

I see. But it seems to be impossible to remove the whole cockpit without removing the front window because the screws are back there... Any hints? Because I don't want to cut the wiring

While I've never seen a Euro car, I find it odd that one would go through all that harness removal ...nonsense. Get a Euro fsm. If it's anything like a USA fsm, then it will have a section called CONTROL UNIT. In that section there is a listing of each wire for the ECU for the Non-turbo and the turbo cars. On the USA version there are but four wires that are different (same series car).

Now isn't it easier to rearrange four little wires/sockets/plugs than to pull a whole harness out? Sorry but I'm a doubtin Thomas about the Euro car being much different in that respect.

Buy a aftermarket boost gauge and leave the original cluster in. That takes care of that.

Well I did it now anyway...

Get a Euro fsm.
If that would be so easy...

Buy a aftermarket boost gauge and leave the original cluster in. That takes care of that.
So if I use the complete Turbo-Wiring (because I got it out now) I should also be able to use the Turbo-Cluster. Or is there anything more I should take care of?

Here's a long shot, but do you have a header or presilencer that you're not going to be using not that you're going turbo?

Don't exactly understand what you mean, but I'm going to use the Cat-System of the Turbo (EURO-N/A has no Cat) and the Cat-Back (already stainless steel) from the N/A. Hope that answers your question.
