i dont really know what you mean by filters, but you should do a full tune up on it

heres what you need to do with a new rx7:
change spark plugs oem ngk ones
oem ngk spark plug wires
castrol 20w50 oil with a mazda oil filter
k&n drop in filter
fuel filter
a good fuel injector cleaner

did i forget anything else

a tune up will also include
- testing and setting the TPS to 1000 OHMS
- adjusting the idle speed
- replace the O2 sensor if its old
- check and adjust engine timing

DO NOT take the car to Mazda. As with all dealerships, they charge way too much and like to find extra shuff thats "wrong" to fix. All of the stuff listed except setting the timing and possibly changing the fuel filter and O2 sensor can easily be done in your driveway. Spark plugs and wires are a very easy change, just don't mix up where the wires go (lables help.) Air filter is also an easy change. Oil change is self explanitory. Resetting the TPS is very easy if you can use a multimeter. Idle speed is simple. To replace the O2 sensor and fuel filter you have to jack up the car, but its relatively simple after that. If you have any questions on how to do it, its all in the FSM (links in FAQs.) If you've never done this stuff before, now is the time to learn. You will be much happier, and so will your pocketbook.

I'd also change all of your fluids while you're at it.

Engine coolant
Tranny fluid
Differential fluid
Clutch fluid
Brake fluid

It's cheap insurance, especially if the previous owner neglected to.

My personal advice, if you can't or don't want to do simple tune ups your self give the car to some one who loves that sort of thing. It would be appreciated much more. Or you can fill the pockets of some greedy mechanic.

hey man, I never said I didn't want to, or couldn't do the tune up stuff myself. I just bought the car last week and its my first rotary engine. This is a bit of a learning process as I'm sure it was for you when you got your first car. As for appreciation, I don't think I would buy the car and try and ressurect it from previous owner's neglect if I didn't appreciate it.
