Trying to put on the wheels
don't know if i'm in the right section but i'm going nuts right now.
here's my problem. i just got my 91 fc a set of rims with +45 offset, which doesn't fit.
now, i want to put a set of 10mm spacer on it so it'll be +35 all around. but if I do that, do i need to extend studs?

with a 10mm spacer, you should be able to get only 2 or 3 full turns on the lug nuts.
Its not the best. I've done it before but don't recommend it if you're planning on doing a lot of spirited driving. The threads may strip, leaving you with 3 wheels or less still on the car.
Extended studs would be a good idea if you're doing 10mm spacers.
Otherwise, just run 5mm spacers and you should be perfectly fine.

ok, make sense.
now i'm probably going to put a 7mm spacer on the wheel so it'll in turn be 38mm offset for now. would that work?
and if i want to get the extended studs... what size are they because i asked around and everyone is stumped. are teh similiar to any other company's studs?

try these, the have an extended shank to go into the rim holes, getting more bite on the threads.

thanx ted, the wheel size is 17x8 with 225/45/17 tires
offset is +45. I'm thinking of putting a 7mm spacer in there to get it to 38 offset so it'll fit for now. then get the extended nut later on.

8.0", I would want something shallower than +35.
With stock type suspensions, it gets really close to the bottom perch.
Ideal would be more like +30.
This is for the fronts.
Rears are not a problem.

ok guys, here's the decision/option i have as for this momment.
225/45/17 with 17x8 +45mm offset right now.
I'm going to put a 1/4" spacer between them for now. *1/4" = 6.35mm*
so... ~ +38.5 offset all around. That should do the job....... right? for now?
Cuz I'm having trouble finding the extended studs.

yea.. i got a set of 15mm spacers comming in a week or so..
sigh.. i was hoping that the 6mm would do the job temporary.
didn't someone one the wheel fitment section say that his 38mm offset with 17x8 cleared the stock suspension?

You sure it wasn't with aftermarket coilovers?

I recall someone mentioned that mentioned...
He had 17x8 with 225/45 with 40mm offset and it cleared so 38mm would have a 2mm leaway. He swore up and down that it'll work.
If the 6mm spacers don't work, I can always return it
As long as the 15mm adapter works, I'll be a happy camper.
*hence, I can finally post pictures of my car up*

ok so this is what i'm doing. I'm getting the ARP extended studs and the Mr Gasket spacers. I'm going 11mm front and back. do i get the longer studs in the front and the shorter studs in the rear??
STOP!!!
It's ARP studs for the late model Camaro/Corvette that you want. They're not too hard to change in the front, but in the rear you need to remove the hub. They have 2 lengths, the short ones are only a little longer in front, but a lot longer in the rear. Using the long ones in front should approximately even it out.

I test fitted my track wheels (15x8 40mm offset) with the shorter studs in the front with a 7/16" (~11mm) spacer and I recall that there was only just enough thread engagement (maybe 5-6 turns), so I went ahead and put in the even longer ones in front and now I've got stud sticking out of the nuts with the spacers on, so there's plenty of thread there.

so what about this setup?
2.5" stud in the front /w 7/16" spacer
and front studs in the rear, with the same 7/16" spacer.
has anyone tried this setup before? am i good with this? or do i have to go 3.25" up front?

I'd go 3.25" ARP in front and 2.5" ARP in the rear. It's what I run with 7/16" spacers and it works well, leaves plenty of thread engagement, no sense in going with the shorter ones and having it not work then having to re-do it all, especially with the difficulties associated with doing the rears.

Thank you everyone for helping me out. I guess It's good to keep record of this incase if anyone else needs this info. Cuz I kno ppl want to kill me for beating the dead horse on this posting. So here's what I gethered and hope it'll help out who ever checks this out later.
The OEM studs lengths are -
52mm - Front
37.5mm - Rear
I actually called up NAPA and ran to Autozone/Pep Boys to find out if the info is correct.
Hence, If I get 2.5" for the rear and 3.25" front. I'll have an extra Inch left to play around with. =)
thank you again Ted, Mechanic and Black n/a for your patience and help.
