Tricks for getting the rear Diff bushings out

Tricks for getting the rear Diff bushings out

Well, I broke my screwdriver trying to pound that thing out..anyone gave a good trick for getting them out?

Are you talking about the 2 round ones? Those have to be pressed out.

On mine, one had to be pressed out and the other simply came out by hand. It was that eroded.

Generally, they have to be pressed out though.

I just did these and used the factory workshop instructions. Yoh drill out the rubber leaving just the outer portion. Then you hit the side tabs with a chisel. Mine came right out after a little pounding. I dont think there is a very good way to hold the diff carrier to press the bushing out without damaging it.

Yes, you do have to press the new ones in. But it is much easier because there is a flat spot to hold the carrier. There is a special tool. Maybe you can ask your local dealer if they have one/pay them to do it. Does not take long at all if you already have the old one out.

i tryed all most every thing i could think of to get mine out and had to finnaly end up taking right up the street to a machine shop and they did it in like 20 min for $40. so it wasnt all bad. and they put the new ones in too. so no more clunk!!!!

I was able to get them out with a punch and a hammer, but getting them in is going to probably require a machine shop.
