Exclamation Tranny Extension Housing Leak

hi all,

problem is this. every now and then when i let the car sit overnight the next morning i would spot small drops of what seems to be oil but its nothing of significant size of drops (probably 1 inch or less) but its been doign that for awhile now...how serious is this problem?

i made sure that its not coming from the main transmission gear box itself...i kinda traced it coming from the top part of the extension housing and the main tranny....

i know that you will need to pull out the transmission to fix this but how serious is this problem? i'm just scared that it will break something in my tranny...but since its not the main leaking...im not entirely worried??? but i am still worried..cause obviously something is wrong... ....

any insights on this?

Ken

I could be from the rear main seal. Is it from around the front of the drive shaft? If it is just drop the drive shaft with the four bolts in back and pull it out and pop a new one in, about $12 bucks

somewhere from the top of the tranny....someone told me it could be the gasket that seals between the main and the rear tranny......

It could be, I think there is an O ring on the shaft for the shifter also. Either way it needs to come out to fix. Once its out it will be easy to tell, and then up to you if you can fix it. The tail shaft comes off pretty easy with a little wiggle for the shift linkage. A little RTV will work on that area just fine.
