trailing coil keeps going bad?

trailing coil keeps going bad?

88 t II at heavy accell in third gear it starts to studder and it feels like its not firing. i replaced the trailing coil with a used coil it worked for a while but.

Sounds a lot more like fuel cut due to too much boost. Once you get to 8.6psi fuel is cut to the rear rotor. You need a fuel cut defender if you want to boost higher. Tell us what your mods are.

BTW, you won't feel if the trailing coil stops working. It does very little for power, it's mainly for emissions and economy.

mods big gready fmic 60-1 upgrade 3" dp w/pipe to match 720 inj. fuel cut def. 98 tt supra pump safc pushin 12 soon to be 15psi.I have changed the trailing coil packs and it was good for a while but every one tells me they dont go bad.and how do you fix my sig

I kept having problems with mine also.
Finally figured out it wasn't grounded well enough!
Check to make sure the little square resistor type thing is grounded and also the gold colored metal box that is connected to the coil is grounded.
Another ground you need to check is the ground to your starter.

I just had a thought. The trailing coil drives the tacho. If the tacho keeps working when you experience this problem, it's not the trailing coil.

trailing coil question

If you have stuttering I would check your leading coil, make sure there is good connection, pull the female connectors out of the plug and crimp them down and them try it. I had this problem when I installed my rebuild. Gary
