thought you might enjoy some pics of water treatment

did a gallon of water the other night to clean the internals, and noticed my exhaust was glowing like crazy so i took a few pictures

Please don't do the atf treatment unless you plan on replacing the motor soon.

The "ATF treatment" is totally pointless. Not only does ATF not remove carbon (many have done experiements to prove this, including me), but it is murder on the rubber oil po-rings (I have done experiments in which ATF turned them into jelly).

Really, I don't recommend you put anything through your engine except fuel and oil. The water trick can leave moisture in the engine, contaminate oil, and it sure isn't good for your exhuast (as those pictures prove).

I used throttle body medic the other day. Only **** I'll use. Its safe for the cats, and it has a lubricant for the seals, doesn't **** up anything.

Get a big can, remove the air atomization vac line and pump half of it in there keeping the throttle at about 3-4k. Wait, about a minute or two, and then dump the rest in.

If theres any carbon in my engine, its gone now

Is that the stuff they sell at pep boys in the 20oz. clear oil bottles? Take a pic of the bottle so I can check it out. I thought I saw something like that when I was buying junk for my wife's car.

The exact name is 'Intake Medic' its made by 'Gunk' im sure you've heard of them.
It comes in a compressed bottle with a tube for the vac lines.
There is a part number on the side 'M4712C'

On the front it says

Cleans-Protects-Lubricates for gasoline engines

Heres what it says on the back

Lack of motivation noted.

I'll have to take a look at that stuff. Gunk is the same company that makes the good hand cleaner stuff I like, so I'll give it a chance. Anyone else have experience with this stuff?

Water does nothing people. ATF only does bad things.

SEA FOAM; same treatment is the only thing that has ever produced results.

Deep Creep for the intake. And you can even use sea foam in your oil maybe 50-100 miles before an oil change to keep oil passages open.

I've used MCCC (Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner) it's basically same as sea Foam


I used it on my DSM...

I was having terrible Lifter Tick (notorious on the 4G) (90 octane doesn't help either) and general not so smoothness

I sprayed one can into a vacuume hose... it was PLUMING black smoke, as it came loose and burned up.... took it for a drive.. ppl probably thought my car was on fire...

i then came back, Pulled the spark plugs... and sprayed about a 1/4 can into each of the cylinders... let it sit over night...

i cranked the car with the plugs out, and there was LITERALLY CHUNKS of carbon flying out of the cylinders....

i vaccuumed the rest out. fired up the car... and the lifter tick was gone, engine ran MUCH smoother and healthier.. seemed a little more responsive down low as well...

side note: if u do use it direct in the cyl, make sure u change ur oil and spark plugs after.. cuz it seeps down through the piston rings, and contaminates ur oil, and u can foul ur spark plugs...

great stuff tho.. i plan on using it in my TII when i can actually get it up and running again

uhhh...you DO know that you are on a rotary site, right?!

No pistons OR piston rings here.

point I was trying to make was that it worked good on a piston engine so I plan on trying on a Rotary engine and hope the same results

and that if anyone else were to try it on their PISTON engines they should take my advice.. (i bet 90% of the ppl on this forum have 2nd piston powered car) and therefor might try it

I love snake oil threads because if we combined all of the stuff that people say not to use we wouldn't use anything however if we would combine all the stuff that people say to use we would use everything, lol almost as pointless of a thread as "lazy eye lights" or whatever they're called.

Sometimes the snake oil actually does stuff.

A lot of mechanics swear by some of the stuff
Some don't.

I wouldnt reccomend putting ATF IN an engine, thats just crazy.

I personally use MMO once in a while cuz I know its chock full of stoddard solvant (yay clean) and I use water because I've SEEN FIRSTHAND the cleaning effects that it has on an engine. Example, blown headgasket on a supra with 217,000 Miles on it, the 3rd and 4th pistons were getting antifreeze sprayed into them through a pinhole leak on the headgasket whenever the engine was running. All the pistons were CAKED with carbon except those two, witch were SHINEY SHINEY SHINEY!!!

But the key is to have a shiney cylinder (housing) that is still properly lubricated. Water will make it shiney, but seafoam will make it shiney while still keeping it properly lubed.

I don't! I have 2 rotary powered cars when one breaks I drive the other.

I gave all my piston powered cars to my wife... boingers are for the... boinger minded.
