every car has its pros and cons. If u want a rotary , then you get one. if you're unsure then dont get one. Its preference more than what it can do and what it cant.

Any engine wont last long if not tuned correctly. The only concern you should worry about is gas mileage. eats more gas than what you are prob used to unless you drive V-8s.

You well get lots of different answers with just reliablity. There are plenty of other threads on the site about the realiablity and etc. What I have learned of there poor realiability is beacuse of previous owners poor maintainance. Rotaries can last over 200k with out needing a rebuild with proper maintainance and some last only 75K with poor mantinance. If you have the money on hand i would have the engine rebuilt and replace cooling parts. That would be great for a daily driver car. If not, look into one with a recent rebuild or with lots of maintance done to it in past years. Thats what i am suggesting if you want a 7. Hope that helps some.

What ever bad things you heard from rotarys i can bet you the guys that told you either dont have one never drove one or didnt know how to take care of one if you really want to know about it ask someone that has had one for a long time and knows how to take care of it from my expierence they are very reliable and as far as mods what makes it special is that its not your average race car its not some bolt on car that you can just bolt parts up to it but if your looking for reliability then a rotary is good if you looking for something thats going to rip in the streets then get a rotary if you are not sure of it then get a honda or a toyota

Also, if you want reliability, get a NON-TURBO. Turbo's tend to break a lot sooner/more frequently with normal maintenance. More moving parts = More things to break.

I have a non-turbo... and I love the thing. Enough power to give most ricers a dropped jaw, and they look great. With love and care, they'll last forever. But, as a first car......... Eh.... Just drive smart.

Also.. did you earn the money you are spending on this car?

EDIT: ^^ Reason I ask is... if you DID earn the money, there's a good chance you'll take care of the car more and it will last longer. Has a lot to do with reliability.

yes, and if you do, expect to pay a good amount of money for it. Way more than should be paid for an 80s/early 90s car :p

Oh well, I think it's worth it.

You get what you pay for is true for RX-7's.... and if you are lucky, you can find a diamond in the rough for cheap.

I've also had 3. Every single one has been extremely reliable. A properly maintained vehicle (this isn't particular to RX-7's, ALL cars will have problems if not taken care of) will last a good long while.

I've had like 6 of them.... 5 of them were reliable..

the unreliable one I bought for 200 dollars and was in non-running condition when I got it.

I have owned 2 s4's and an s5 and all have been extremely reliable with good maintance. So i agree on the fact that with good maintance the rotary like any other engine can run forever.
