Most of the time you can rev the motor up your drive way using the throttle in the engine bay, and you can watch them move. Mine werent moving, but my precat was clogged up. Once I got the new exhaust system in, and sealed the gaskets, they open fine now. Another way is to put grease on the shafts and go for a good hard drive. If the grease has been moved up on the shafts, you know they work...

Is that it? I thought it was something diff. Does anyone else have any more pictures? I really need to know i want to get this fixed. I am pretty sure it is what the problem is. Tha and my BAC but fixing that this weekend

Nope! That is it...
You can clearly see them on the pass. side of the motor right obove the exhause manifold. The circled part is the shaft and linkage to the diaphram which turns the ports to open. On 86-88 models you can take the hose off that goes to the diaphram and suck on it and you should be able to see the shaft from it pop out (or simply move i should say). On 89-91 models you have to blow on the hose to see the shaft pop out.
