The water temperature wire is yellow with white stripe.

IF you used a Turbo EM harness on a non turbo car, then there lies the problem.

Remember the two ORANGE colored plugs on that harness that are in the passengers foot well?

Pull them apart. Both of them. Look at the TURBO side of the orange plugs. You'll see a yellow/white wire in it. Now look at the other orange plug but this time at the side of the plug that is a part of the FRONT harness. See the yellow/white wire.

What you have to do, is make the yellow/white in the EM plug go to the yellow/white in the Front plug. How you do that is up to you.

I don't know how else to explain that. I've tried in the past using ref designators etc and it does not work. So just by pulling both ORANGE plugs apart and seeing that the yellow/white is in one plug of the EM harness and the yellow/white that it needs to mate with is in the non turbo FRONT half of the other ORANGE plug half, it should be evident as to what has to happen.

Yeah. Same location at that end. Seems to be you can't find it there. Don't know what to say. It's possible that you've HIDDEN it accidently up around the area where the filler neck is and don't know it.

IF you used a non turbo EM harness you can disregard my first post. If you used a Turbo EM harness, then you need to also take care of what I implied in my first response.

Yeah, it's more or less hidden up in that mess around the filler neck area. Might have even gotten under the intake area.

Here's how things work. The wire runs from the water temp sensor .........through the EM harness to inside the passengers foot well...............where it exits a ORANGE plug to mate with a yellow/white wire in the FRONT harness and goes from there to the instrument cluster.

Remember the ORANGE plug? Well there are two ORANGE plugs. On the TURBO EM hareness it goes through one of the orange plugs. ON the NON Turbo it goes through the OTHER orange plug and mates with the FRONT harness.

So IF you used a Turbo EM harness on a non turbo car, the water temp sensor wire will leave the *Wrong* orange plug and will mate with the wrong wire in the FRONT harness. So the signal will never get to the gauge cluster.

Unless you move the yellow/white wire from the ORANGE plug it is in now, and move it to the OTHER orange plug so it can mate with a yellow/white wire in the FRONT harness and connect with the instrument cluster.

The above only applys if you used a Turbo EM harness on the non turbo car.

It's hard to work on those two orange plugs once they are in the car. No darn room for a normal size person.

I used to swim at Bellow Field. Probably when it was called Bellows Field and before they built all those super hwys over the Pali. It was more fun driving over the Pali on the old roads right on the edge of the cliffs.
